State-Sponsored Housing Scheme Transforms Lives in Jharkhand

Karmela Linda and thousands of others in Jharkhand are set to receive pucca houses under the Jharkhand government's 'Abua Awas Yojana'. The scheme, aiming to provide secure homes for the poor, addresses the inadequacies of mud houses, especially during the monsoon season. Initiated in 2023, it fills the gaps left by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Karmela Linda will no longer suffer through the monsoon season with a leaking roof, thanks to the construction of her pucca house under Jharkhand's state-sponsored housing scheme.

Living in a thatched-roofed mud house, Linda faced many difficulties during the rains. Now, she benefits from the Jharkhand government's ambitious 'Abua Awas Yojana' in Ranchi's Kanke block, which aims to provide secure housing for the poor.

Thousands of beneficiaries have received their first instalment for house construction, seeing this initiative as a path to a more secure future. Launched on November 15, 2023, it targets those bypassed by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, offering better facilities and more funds. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren confirmed the state exchequer's commitment to this groundbreaking project, which aims to construct three-room houses for all genuine applicants over five years.
