The tragic murder of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru has shocked the community, with police alleging it stemmed from differences over marriage. Her dismembered body, found in her home's fridge on September 21, sent shockwaves through the city.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed that the prime suspect, Mukti Ranjan Ray, took his own life on September 25 in Odisha. He allegedly left behind a death note confessing to the gruesome crime.

As police continue their investigation, they have recorded statements from Ray's younger brother and are coordinating with authorities in Odisha to gather more information. Mahalakshmi had been living separately from her estranged husband since October 2023 and worked with Ray at a clothing outlet.
