Three-time world cricket umpire of the year, Aleem Dar, has announced his retirement from officiating, slated for 2025 after the conclusion of the Pakistan domestic cricket season.
At 56, Dar has had a storied career on the ICC elite panel of umpires from 2003 to 2023, and remains on Pakistan's elite panel. His distinguished career has seen him officiate in numerous international matches, including 145 Test matches, 231 ODIs, and 72 T20s.
Announcing his retirement, Dar stated, "All great journeys must eventually come to an end, and the time has come for me to focus fully on my social and charity work." He highlighted his commitment to his hospital project and other initiatives. Reflecting on his career, Dar expressed honor in being part of iconic matches and working alongside some of the finest match officials globally. He remains dedicated to mentoring new umpires.
