The Indian government, under the leadership of Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, is set to unveil a comprehensive master list of tourist sites aimed at holistic development. The initiative aims to bring India's 'Incredible India' destinations onto a global stage.
Speaking at an event to mark World Tourism Day, Shekhawat highlighted several new measures, including the 'Chalo India' campaign, which will exempt one lakh foreign tourists from visa fees. Additionally, initiatives like 'Paryatan Mitra and Paryatan Didi' will be launched across 50 key destinations to improve the overall tourist experience.
The master list will be jointly prepared by multiple ministries and aims to prioritize the development of both existing and new tourist sites over the next three years. The move is seen as an effort to attract private investment and boost domestic tourism, which has soared since the launch of the 'Dekho Apna Desh' campaign.
