A prominent seer, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, along with five companions, was told to return after arriving in Nagaland for the 'Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra'. This announcement came after the Nagaland government imposed restrictions.
The seer was scheduled to lead a movement demanding the cow be declared the mother of the nation and to push for a central law against cow slaughter. However, they were barred from leaving Dimapur airport by state officials.
Authorities cited concerns of public order disruptions as the reason for the ban. The cabinet's decision was influenced by the special privileges granted to Nagaland under Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution.
