A campaign to save the Himalayan meadows launched on Wednesday in Kulsari village, located on the banks of the Pinder river in Chamoli district, with an inaugural seminar focused on conserving high altitude pastures.

Forest Range Officer Harish Thapliyal from Badrinath Forest Division highlighted the grave threat posed by uncontrolled tourism and climate change to these meadows, also known as bugyals, famed for their natural beauty and biodiversity.

Participation in the five-day Bugyal Bachao Yatra involves more than a dozen individuals who will visit various meadows, including Bedni and Ali bugyals, to both raise awareness and collect litter. This event is jointly organized by CP Bhatt Environment and Development Centre, Jago Himalaya Committee, and Badrinath Forest Division.
