Sonam Wangchuk Leads Padyatra to Save Himalayan Environment

Concern is mounting over environmental degradation in the Himalayan region, with renowned environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk issuing a stark warning on Wednesday. He highlighted the dire future awaiting next generations due to the exploitation by big companies and mining mafia.
Wangchuk is currently on a foot march ('padyatra') from Ladakh to Delhi, accompanied by 150 volunteers. During a media interaction in Nalagarh, Solan district, he voiced his concern over the government's actions, which he claims are influenced by major corporations and mining interests.
He also spoke about the unfulfilled promises from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the rising demand for statehood in Ladakh, and announced plans for the delegation to meet key government and opposition leaders in Delhi to press their demands.
