Delhi Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain on Wednesday reviewed the distribution of free ration under the NFSA and One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) schemes in the national capital, as per an official statement.

During the meeting, Hussain was informed that ration for September 2024 has already been distributed to most beneficiaries. Distribution for the next month will begin on October 1, the statement revealed. The NFSA ration beneficiaries, including eligible migrant beneficiaries, are receiving this ration free of cost.

Hussain instructed the department's officers to ensure proper lifting of allocated foodgrains from FCI godowns and their transportation to respective fair price shops smoothly and without interruption. He also directed senior officers to personally oversee the transportation process.

In light of the upcoming festive season, Hussain directed the Food and Supplies (F&S) Department to ensure fair price shops operate from 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm as per existing orders. He emphasized regular meetings of the vigilance committees and instructed that minutes of these meetings be made available to competent authorities and his office to help resolve beneficiaries' grievances at the ground level.
