The US-India relationship has evolved into an expanded, comprehensive strategic partnership that addresses global issues and geopolitical concerns, according to Arun M Kumar, managing partner of Celesta Capital and former US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets under the Obama administration.
In an interview with PTI, Kumar noted the shift from bilateral conversations in 2014 to a broader embrace of global concerns. The focus has shifted from regional stability, including Afghanistan and Pakistan, to joint strategies in the Indo-Pacific, incorporating security and economic dimensions within a rules-based international order.
The partnership now involves multilateral configurations like the Quad and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, reflecting shared concerns over China's aggressive postures in the region. Noteworthy areas of cooperation include defence, emerging technologies, and energy security, indicating a significant expansion of the US-India partnership over the last decade.
