In the wake of CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh's arrest in a rape case, senior Marxist leader P K Sreemathi has underscored the importance of ethical decision-making. 'It's up to the actor-turned-politician to decide whether to resign, given the circumstances,' Sreemathi stated.

Sreemathi, a central committee member of the CPI (M) and a veteran in the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), emphasized that individuals must make decisions rooted in their personal ethics. 'Only Mukesh and the victim know what transpired. When society discusses the issue, the decision rests with him,' she remarked.

Mukesh was formally arrested by the Special Investigation Team in Kochi, followed by his release on anticipatory bail. This incident has cast a spotlight on multiple Malayalam film personalities facing allegations of sexual harassment, as disclosed in the Justice K Hema Committee report.
