YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to engage in temple rituals on September 28, aiming to atone for what he described as the 'sin' committed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu had earlier accused the previous YSRCP government of using substandard ingredients and animal fat in the sacred Tirupati laddus.
These serious allegations were brought up by Naidu during an NDA legislative party meeting, sparking a nationwide controversy. Reddy, in his response, labelled these claims as politically motivated lies, stating that there was no truth to the adulteration accusations.
Adding to the drama, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has started an 11-day penance to propitiate the deity for what he considers sacrilege. Both leaders' actions underscore the depth of the political and religious tensions brewing in Andhra Pradesh.
