Union Strikes Formosa Interactive Over 'League of Legends'
Union video game actors filed an unfair labor practice charge and declared a strike against Formosa Interactive, which provides voiceover services for 'League of Legends.' The union, SAG-AFTRA, claims Formosa tried to transfer a struck game to a shell company and cast only non-union talent. Formosa denies the allegations.
Union video game actors have taken legal action and declared a strike against Formosa Interactive, a service provider for the popular online game 'League of Legends.' According to SAG-AFTRA, the union representing the actors, Formosa attempted to circumvent the strike by transferring the game's rights to a shell company and seeking non-union talent.
SAG-AFTRA contends that this move by Formosa infringes upon the performers' right to strike. On the other hand, Formosa has rejected the union's allegations, asserting that they have not violated any union rights and consider the strike over 'League of Legends' inappropriate.
Riot Games, the developer of 'League of Legends,' stated it has no involvement with the union's claims and has never suggested that Formosa employ non-union performers. The game is renowned for its free-to-play model and is a leading title in Esports, hosting one of the world's largest competitions with significant prize money.
