Kiran Rao's directorial venture 'Laapataa Ladies' has been selected as India's entry for the Oscars 2025, marking a moment of jubilation for the entire film crew. Actor Sparsh Shrivastava, who portrayed Deepak Kumar, described the achievement as an emotional milestone for his family.
Speaking to ANI, Shrivastava said, "Everyone from Aamir Khan Productions to my entire family is overjoyed. Winning the Oscar would be a dream come true. My family is very emotional and extremely happy. We hope for everyone's blessings to bring home the award." His mother also expressed her pride and happiness, stating, "I am very proud of him and everyone in the family is celebrating this moment."
Kiran Rao also shared her gratitude for the recognition of her hard work and the opportunity to reach a global audience. "I am very happy. Given the number of excellent films made this year, I did not expect an Oscar entry. Now we can showcase this film to a larger audience. I thank the viewers for their love and believe this film has something for everyone," she remarked.
Rao looks forward to the journey ahead but acknowledges the challenges. "The film addresses the issues, expectations, and aspirations of women. Being the country's official entry to the Oscars is highly encouraging. It feels like we're moving towards finding solutions to many women's problems.
