A Kerala court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to CPI(M) MLA and actor M Mukesh in a second sexual assault case. The complaint stems from an incident in 2010 in Thrissur's Wadakkanchery area.

The Ernakulam District and Sessions Judge, Honey M Varghese, provided the legal relief. Additional details of the order are pending.

The case involves the same complainant as the first case filed at Maradu police station. With this bail, Mukesh is protected from arrest in both instances.

Mukesh, already arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed for this probe, underwent medical examination and a potency test before being released on bail. He had previously secured pre-arrest bail on September 5 in the first case.

The Malayalam film industry has been rocked by multiple allegations and FIRs against high-profile personalities, triggered by findings in the Justice K Hema Committee report, which was formed following the 2017 actress assault case. In response, the state government constituted a seven-member Special Investigation Team on August 25 to further investigate these claims.
