Devotees at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) can now rest assured about the sanctity of laddu prasadams, stated executive officer J Shyamala Rao. A four-hour purification ritual was conducted to restore their purity.

This ritual was conducted to counter accusations of mixing animal fats in the laddus, claims which drew national attention. The controversy was fueled by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who alleged substandard practices were used under the previous YSRCP government, a charge denied by YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The temple body performed the Shanti Homam in alignment with Vaikhanasa Agama tenets. Holy water was sprinkled in the laddu kitchen, and a series of sanctifying rituals were carried out to remove any flaws in the prasadams. TTD assures that henceforth, laddu prasadams and other offerings will be free from any flaws.
