AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel left for Mumbai on Monday to demand action against Hindu seer Ramgiri Maharaj and BJP MLA Nitesh Rane for their remarks allegedly targeting Muslims.
On September 11, former MP Jaleel announced he would be heading to Mumbai on September 23 to distribute copies of the Constitution to Maharashtra's ruling Mahayuti leaders and senior police officials, seeking action against Maharaj and Rane. BJP leader Rane had delivered speeches in Ahmednagar on September 1 in support of Maharaj, who faced criticism last month for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
Various cases have been registered in Maharashtra against Rane over his allegedly anti-Muslim speeches. On Monday, Jaleel launched the 'Tiranga Samvidhan' rally to Mumbai via the Samruddhi Expressway, stating that people who appreciate the culture of Maharashtra are supporting his movement to remind the government of the state's historic values and figures like Phule, Shahu Maharaj, Ambedkar, and Shivaji Maharaj.
