The decomposed body of a civil services aspirant was discovered hanging from a tree in a forest area in northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, police confirmed on Monday.
Identified as Deepak Kumar Meena from Rajasthan's Dausa, the body was found near a coaching institute library on September 20. Meena had been missing for several days, according to the police.
A senior officer indicated that suicide is suspected. CCTV footage has been reviewed, and a detailed probe is ongoing.
Meena's father, CL Meena, revealed that his son came to Delhi in July to prepare for the UPSC mains, having cleared the preliminary exam. Meena's routine included daily calls home, which stopped abruptly on September 10.
Upon not hearing from him from September 11-13, CL Meena traveled to Delhi, only to discover his son's roommates had not seen him for two days. This prompted a missing person report at Mukherjee Nagar police station.
During the search, Meena's body was found in the forest area, suggesting he might have gone there after class. His bag was also hanging from the tree, but no suicide note was recovered. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.
