A Delhi resident has filed a zero FIR alleging that a cab driver harassed and attempted to rob him, his friend, and their families in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, according to his police complaint.
The accused reportedly misbehaved with the women of the two families as well.
In his September 20 complaint, Mohammad Raahim Rafi stated that he and his friend, both journalists, were on a four-day trip to Himachal Pradesh organized by a travel agency. Out of a total booking amount of Rs 36,600, half was paid in advance, and the rest was to be settled upon hotel check-in. The driver, who picked them up from Delhi, allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 for petrol just an hour before reaching Dharamshala. Upon refusal, the driver removed the group's luggage from the vehicle.
After complaining to the travel agency, the driver was replaced, and the journey continued. However, on September 17, while returning from Chamba, the driver allegedly took them to a forest area, misbehaved with women in the group, manhandled Raahim, and demanded additional money. The tourists managed to overpower the driver and resumed their trip with another cab.
The travel agency was informed but failed to take any action. Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri has assured a thorough investigation and appropriate legal actions.
