An Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb has killed 31 people, including seven women and three children, Lebanon's health minister reported on Saturday, as hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah intensify.
The casualties include Ibrahim Akil, a key commander of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, and Ahmed Wahbi, another senior commander. Lebanon's health minister, Firas Abiad, stated that 68 individuals were injured, 15 of whom remain hospitalized. Rescue operations continue with the expected rise in the death toll.
This airstrike, targeting a densely populated south Beirut neighborhood on Friday afternoon, marks the deadliest incident since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Lebanese troops have cordoned off the area as rescue workers search for survivors.
