On September 18, four unidentified individuals were implicated in a stone-pelting incident during a Ganpati procession in Bhiwandi, Thane district, according to a police official.

Stones were hurled at the Sri Hanuman Sarvajanik Mitra Mandal's immersion procession after midnight, leading to damage to the idol and tension in the Vanjarpatti Naka locality, the official stated.

The projectiles were reportedly thrown from the direction of a chicken shop. Following a complaint from a VHP functionary, the suspects have been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official confirmed.
