Japan's government and citizens applauded the period drama 'Shogun' for its record-breaking trophy haul at the Emmy Awards. The show won 19 awards, including best drama and acting accolades for stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. Another period piece, 'Blue Eye Samurai', also won an Emmy for best animated program.

Welcoming the achievement, the government highlighted that 70% of the dialogue in 'Shogun' was in Japanese, and Sanada's involvement in its production. 'We would like to further encourage Japanese creators to take on the challenges of overseas productions,' said Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroshi Moriya.

March saw the monster movie 'Godzilla Minus One' win a visual effects Oscar, and 'Tokyo Vice' concluded its second season in April. With Shohei Ohtani excelling in baseball and tourists flooding in, Japan's cultural prominence is on the rise. Naomi Mano of Luxurique noted tourists' interest in Edo-period experiences.
