Scottish actor James McAvoy, famed for his roles in the 'X-Men' and 'Unbreakable' series, has disclosed that he turned down an offer to play young Voldemort (Tom Riddle) in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, McAvoy explained that he was approached at the start of his career and offered a substantial fee, but declined due to the time commitment the role demanded. He auditioned for the role, which was eventually played by Christian Coulson in 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.

'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', released in 2001 and directed by Chris Columbus, starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. McAvoy's latest project, 'Speak No Evil', a psychological horror by James Watkins, premiered on September 13.
