In a tragic incident in the Itiyathok Police Station area of Gonda district, a 40-year-old woman lost her life after a wall of her thatched house collapsed late on Friday evening, officials reported on Saturday.

The woman, identified as Sajida, who was speech and hearing-impaired, was with her two-month-old daughter, Halima, when the incident occurred. The infant has been seriously injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Family members rushed the victims to a local community health centre, where Sajida was declared dead. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.
