Bomb threats resulted in the evacuation of schools and government buildings in Springfield, Ohio, for the second consecutive day on Friday. The threats followed former President Donald Trump's promotion of false allegations concerning Haitian immigrants abducting and consuming pets.

An emailed threat claimed bombs were planted in the homes of Springfield's mayor and other officials, according to city spokesperson Karen Graves. Another email indicated the bombs would target Springfield City Hall, multiple schools, and local government offices.

Authorities conducted evacuations and deployed explosive-detection dogs to sweep and secure the buildings. "We are committed to the safety and well-being of our community and take all threats to public safety with the utmost seriousness," Graves stated. The FBI's Dayton office is collaborating to trace the threats' origins. The Springfield City School District assured the community that it treats all threats seriously and will pursue prosecution vigorously.
