Amit Shah to Open Diamond Jubilee of Hindi as Official Language

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address the opening session of the official language diamond jubilee celebrations and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan. The event marks 75 years of Hindi as an official language. Shah will also launch commemorative items and present awards.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address the inaugural session of the official language diamond jubilee celebrations and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan, celebrating 75 years since Hindi became the official language.

Shah will also unveil the diamond jubilee special edition of 'Rajbhasha Bharti' magazine, and release a commemorative postage stamp and coin, an official release confirmed. Additionally, he will present the 'Rajbhasha Gaurav' and 'Rajbhasha Kirti' awards during the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized the development of Hindi and other Indian languages, aiming for better coordination among them, according to the release. Home Minister Shah had envisioned celebrating Hindi Diwas on a larger scale across multiple cities from 2019, which led to the organization of events in Varanasi, Surat, and Pune in subsequent years.

This year’s event is particularly notable due to its diamond jubilee theme, commemorating 75 years of Hindi as an official language and its progress in the field of technology. The two-day event will feature in-depth discussions on Hindi’s journey and its role as an official, public, and contact language over the past 75 years. Other topics will include India's cultural heritage and the latest criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
