An artist from Mumbai has sculpted a Ganesh idol in the 'Ardhanari' form – representing half male, half female – to emphasize the importance of gender balance amid increasing crimes against women.
Rintu Rathod, a chocolate artist, crafted the 25-inch-tall idol using 20 kg of dark chocolate and 10 kg of white chocolate, installed at her Santacruz residence.
'This form of Ganapati signifies the essential and complementary nature of male and female principles, promoting universal harmony,' Rathod said. The idol, commemorating an 800-year-old tradition, stresses urgent gender harmony following recent incidents like the Kolkata trainee doctor case.
