'The Apprentice', featuring 'Avengers' star Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump, is set to arrive on Indian screens on October 18.

The movie, directed by Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi, will be released nationwide by multiplex chain PVRINOX Pictures.

Set in the 1980s, 'The Apprentice' delves into the darker facets of Trump's early career in real estate, highlighting his rise as a Republican Presidential candidate for the upcoming US elections. The narrative centers on Trump's 'Faustian' relationship with Roy Cohn, a notorious right-wing lawyer and political fixer. Through their intricate and shadowy relationship, the film reveals the forces that propelled Trump to American political prominence.

According to Abbasi, 'The Apprentice' is not a History Channel episode or a Trump biopic. 'We’re not interested in every detail of his life going from A to Z. We’re interested in telling a very specific story through his relationship with Roy and Roy’s relationship with him,' the filmmaker stated.

The film premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and features Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn and Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Trump's first wife.
