Assamese actress, choreographer, and social media influencer Sumi Bora, along with her husband Tarkik Bora, has been taken into custody by the Special Task Force (STF) on charges related to a multi-crore online stock trading scam, a senior police official confirmed.

The STF detained the couple in Dibrugarh, according to the officer's statement to PTI.

A lookout notice had been issued for the couple and four others after they failed to comply with a police notice following the arrest of the scam's prime accused, Bishal Phukan, aged 22.

In a video message broadcasted on local television channels, the actress stated her intention to surrender and cooperate fully with the police investigation.

Phukan, the company's owner accused of defrauding investors, was arrested last week in Dibrugarh along with his manager.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took over the investigation, forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The Director General of Police (DGP) posted a photo of the husband and wife with masked faces, commenting, 'The game is up for them. Compliments to the Team STF.'

The DGP, however, did not disclose their names.
