The 58th 'Nathu La Day' was marked on Wednesday, paying tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 1967 India-China conflict.

Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and Major General GOC Amit Kabhtiyal of the 17th Mountain Division participated in a ceremony at the Sherathang War Memorial at Nathu La Pass.

Governor Mathur emphasized the day's pride and significance, advocating for a commemorative film to inspire youth and immortalize the 1967 victory. Chief Minister Tamang announced future observances would be termed 'Nathu La Vijay Diwas,' highlighting the soldiers' valor in defending the nation. Sikkim High Court Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder and other officials also paid homage, calling the day a pivotal moment for border peace.
