A painting by celebrated artist Sayed Haider Raza, valued at over Rs 2.5 crore, was stolen from a warehouse in south Mumbai, according to police on Wednesday.

An official from the MRA Marg police station, where the FIR has been registered, said the painting, titled 'Prakriti' and created by Raza in 1992, was stolen from the Guru Auction House Private Limited's warehouse.

"We have formed a team to recover the painting," the official stated. "We are trying to identify the culprit through CCTV footage," he added. Raza's acrylic artwork, stored during the coronavirus pandemic, was reported missing, and Raza, who spent most of his career in France, passed away in 2016 at 94.
