The Delhi government is set to hire an agency to erect barricades and deploy laborers to prevent the immersion of Ganesha idols in the Yamuna river. This move aims to curb environmental pollution and mitigate nuisance to the public during the immersion period in 2024.

According to officials, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has floated a tender to acquire these services. The agency will be responsible for making arrangements to stop Ganesha idol immersions from Nanaksar Gurudwara to the U.P. Border and from Wazirabad Barrage to the Old Railway Bridge.

The appointed agency will erect barricades using mild steel pipes and curtains and deploy laborers in three shifts for surveillance. Additionally, the agency must employ methodologies that minimize environmental pollution and cause the least disruption to road users and adjacent property occupants.
