Indian Nurse's Landmark Victory Against Unfair Dismissal in UK
Kirankumar Rathod, an Indian nurse, secured a significant payout against his former employer, Clinica Private Healthcare Ltd. This case, which highlighted labor abuses in the UK care sector, could encourage other migrant workers to take legal action. Legal experts predict Rathod's victory in the full hearing.
An Indian nurse who was dismissed by a British care company secured a major payout on Monday, a milestone case that legal experts believe could inspire other migrant workers to seek justice against exploitative employers.
Kirankumar Rathod is one of more than 100,000 foreign workers who have been lured to the UK for care jobs since the introduction of a new visa route in 2022. Critics claim that reports of labor abuse have surged under this scheme.
The tribunal ruled for interim relief, ordering Clinica Private Healthcare Ltd. in London to pay Rathod nearly £17,000 in unpaid wages and continue paying his salary until his unfair dismissal claim is fully settled.
