Actor Abhishek Banerjee has stated that both audiences and the film industry must recognize cinema as a director’s medium, attributing a film's success predominantly to the director. This comes amid the recent ''credit war'' following the release of ''Stree 2'' on August 15, where fans of stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao clashed over who deserved more credit.

Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, ''Stree 2'' has grossed over Rs 600 crore in Indian theatres since its debut. Banerjee, a key member of the cast, highlighted that the director is crucial to a film's outcome. ''It's the director who makes or breaks a film,'' he told PTI, adding that attributing credit should be straightforward without unnecessary complications.

Banerjee further revealed that director Kaushik has clarified that no conflict exists within the cast. He dismissed the alleged ''war'' as a creation of public relations dynamics, stating that the cast members are enjoying their success peacefully. Banerjee's next project is Ribhu Dasgupta's courtroom drama ''Section 84''.
