In a grand display of devotion, over 62,000 Ganesh idols were immersed in multiple water bodies across Mumbai on the second day of the Ganesh festival, according to civic officials.

The celebration, which commenced on Saturday, saw families and public groups install idols of Lord Ganesh in homes and community pandals. The immersion began on Sunday afternoon, following a one-and-a-half-day period of worship.

By midnight, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded the immersion of 62,569 idols in the sea, other water bodies, and specially created artificial ponds. BMC officials confirmed that no untoward incidents occurred during the immersion process. The Ganesh festival spans ten days, with devotees performing ritual immersion at various intervals.
