Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam is set to reopen for tourists on October 1 following its annual monsoon break, according to an official statement on Sunday.
Initially, only three park ranges will open for jeep safaris: the central or Kohora, western or Bagori, and Burapahar ranges, due to road conditions affected by recent floods. The safaris will operate in two shifts - 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, as per Park Director Sonali Ghosh.
Preparations for the tourist season will focus on enhancing visitor experience and safety. Known for its picturesque landscapes, rich biodiversity, and unique one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga continues to be a premier destination for both families and wildlife enthusiasts. The park faces seasonal closure each May with nearly 200 animal casualties reported this year due to severe flooding.
