Three sisters from Ohio who inherited a rare 1975 dime, missing the 'S' mint mark, have held onto the valuable coin for more than 40 years without realizing its true worth.

Ian Russell, president of GreatCollections, a currency auction specialist, revealed the coin could garner over $500,000 in an online auction slated for October.

The dime, one of only two without the mint mark, remained hidden until its recent discovery, with the other one selling for $456,000 in 2019. It will be displayed at a Tampa coin show before the auction's conclusion, likely inspiring renewed interest in similar proof sets.
