Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday called on Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to prioritize securing approvals for the Mahadayi project and funds for the Upper Bhadra project, rather than raising unrelated issues.

Speaking at his Sadashivanagar residence, Shivakumar passionately appealed during Ganesha Chathurthi, urging swift action on these critical water projects. He addressed Joshi's earlier remarks suggesting that the Congress government was diverting attention from the Valmiki Corporation scam.

Shivakumar also mentioned upcoming discussions with the chief minister about possibly organizing an all-party meeting to strategize Karnataka's stance on the Mahadayi project, which involves water diversion from the Mahadayi river. Additionally, he accepted MP Sudhakar's challenge regarding the Yettinahole project, pledging to ensure water reaches the Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts.
