Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced that Canadian company Nebula Group is set to establish a food processing plant in the state.

Mann held a meeting with Nebula Group's president and chairman, Raman Khatra, to discuss the initiative. According to an official release, the plant will process tomatoes, potatoes, and citrus fruits sourced from 10,000 hectares in the surrounding areas.

The chief minister highlighted that the company will extend the shelf life of perishables for export and form partnerships with state-owned Markfed and Punjab Agro to significantly benefit local farmers.

Located near Doraha, the plant represents an immense pride for Punjab. Additionally, Nebula Group will utilize advanced technology to clean 'Budha Nullah' in Ludhiana, aiming to reduce water's total dissolved solids (TDS) levels to under 100, making it potable.

The company also agreed to set up a recycling plant for plastic waste, particularly bottles, contributing to a cleaner, greener environment. Chief Minister Mann emphasized the impact this will have on tackling plastic waste management.
