Alison Brie will play the villain Evil-Lyn in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films' live-action adaptation of 'Masters of the Universe,' according to The Hollywood Reporter. Brie, currently starring in the Peacock thriller 'Apples Never Fall,' joins Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes in a star-studded cast.

Travis Knight, renowned for directing 'Kubo and the Two Strings,' will helm the project. The film, which has been in development for nearly two decades, is now nearing production. Based on the 1980s toy line, it tells the story of Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into He-Man to battle the villainous Skeletor and his forces. Brie's character, Evil-Lyn, is Skeletor's second-in-command and is adept in dark magic. Meg Foster originally portrayed the character in the 1987 film.

Chris Butler penned the screenplay, with earlier drafts by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee. Scheduled for a worldwide release on June 5, 2026, this role marks a significant shift for Brie, noted for her performances in shows like Netflix's 'GLOW,' 'Community,' and AMC's 'Mad Men.' Recently, she starred in 'Somebody That I Used to Know,' a film she co-wrote and produced with her husband, Dave Franco. Brie is represented by WME and Rise Management. (ANI)
