India to Establish First Thiruvalluvar Centre in Singapore to Boost Cultural Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that India's first-ever Thiruvalluvar Centre will be established in Singapore to enhance cultural ties between the two countries. This was part of his two-day visit, during which he met with Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong. The leaders elevated bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Modi, accompanied by Premier Wong, discussed cooperation across various sectors including trade, defense, fintech, green corridors, and food security. Four MoUs covering semiconductors, digital technologies, skill development, and healthcare were exchanged.
Highlighting the significance of the move, Modi noted the importance of these initiatives in making India-Singapore relations future-ready. Additionally, an Invest India office will be established in Singapore to support investor relations, and further efforts were discussed to increase connectivity and joint exercises in the defense sector.
