Nawazuddin Siddiqui, whose career took a significant upturn with his role in 'Gangs of Wasseypur', recalls the film's journey to cult classic status as it re-releases in theatres after 12 years. His portrayal of Faisal Khan remains a standout performance in Indian cinema.

Speaking with ANI, Siddiqui shared his initial skepticism about the film's potential. 'I never thought Gangs of Wasseypur would become a cult film,' he admitted. The actor narrated his emotional transformation from uncertainty to awe after seeing the edited version of the film at the Cannes Film Festival, praising director Anurag Kashyap's creative genius.

The first installment of the movie premiered on June 22, 2012, followed by the second on August 8, 2012. Chronicling the coal mafia's generations-long saga, the film features an ensemble cast including Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, and Tigmanshu Dhulia, marking a significant contribution to modern Indian cinema.
