Ananya Pandey continues to rise, now taking the lead in the upcoming Prime Video series 'Call Me Bae,' set to debut on September 6. Directed by Collin D'Cunha, Pandey portrays the character Bae, aka Bella Chowdhary, navigating a riches-to-rags journey.
'It was the collective idea of the producers, myself, and the platform to cast Ananya,' D'Cunha said. 'Ananya naturally fits the character, and we were excited about her playing Bae. She has shown remarkable growth and is ready to front a show.'
D'Cunha's directorial debut addresses themes like privilege, empowerment, and the impact of social media. The series also boasts a unique 'desi' world created by writers Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair. Executive producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra have also backed the project, which includes an ensemble cast featuring Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, and others.
