The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has raised concerns over a 'pandal' imitating the Golden Temple in Pune constructed for the Ganpati Utsav, terming it as an act of incitement against Sikh sentiments.
In an official statement, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami condemned the act, emphasizing that replicating historical Sikh sacred places can hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Reports from the Sikh community in Pune indicate that the pavilion was built in the camp area, closely resembling the Harmandar Sahib. Dhami stressed that such actions contradict Sikh traditions and principles, and announced that a team will be dispatched to Pune for further investigation.
Dhami urged the Sikh community to promptly report similar incidents to the SGPC to ensure that their traditions and beliefs are respected.
