Four Indian nationals, including a young woman, tragically lost their lives in a multi-vehicle road accident in Texas during the Labour Day weekend. The collision took place on the northbound US 75 near Dallas, involving five vehicles. The Consul General of India in Houston, D C Manjunath, confirmed the identities of the deceased, and stated that the Consulate General of India (CGI) is offering full support to the families and community organizations.

According to preliminary reports and witnesses, traffic was at a halt on the highway when the accident occurred on Friday afternoon. A speeding truck failed to slow down, striking the rear of an SUV and causing it to catch fire. The trapped occupants of the SUV were killed in the blaze, and their bodies were charred beyond recognition, leading to a prolonged identification process. Several others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were named as Aryan Raghunath Orampatti, Farooq Sheikh, Lokesh Palacharla, and Darshini Vasudev, each with deep connections to the Indian diaspora. The shockwaves of this tragedy are particularly felt within the Telugu community. The Consulate General is coordinating closely with families during this difficult time.
