Actor Nivin Pauly was booked for rape following allegations by a 40-year-old woman who claims he sexually assaulted her in Dubai over a year ago. Pauly has denied the charges and vows to take all possible legal measures to prove his innocence.
An officer at Oonnukal police station reported that there are six accused in the case, including a woman, with Pauly being the sixth accused. The alleged incident happened over a year ago, but further details were not disclosed.
Hours after the FIR was filed, Pauly posted on Facebook, calling the allegations 'entirely untrue.' He held a press conference stating the allegations are false and part of a conspiracy. The actor further mentioned that he was advised not to pursue a case against the complainant earlier as it seemed baseless. Pauly now intends to take all necessary legal measures to prove his innocence and will file a case against the complainant for defamation.
Pauly is among several actors facing such allegations following the Justice K Hema Committee report, which highlighted harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam cinema industry. The Kerala government has since formed a seven-member special investigation team to probe these cases.
