Modi, the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Brunei bilaterally, was welcomed at the airport by Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah. During his visit, he met Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and other royal family members to elevate the historical relationship between India and Brunei.

As part of his itinerary, Modi visited the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and inaugurated the new chancery premises of the Indian High Commission, engaging with the Indian diaspora and acknowledging their contributions in healthcare and education sectors in Brunei. The visit stands as a significant milestone on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
