Actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi has voiced his opinion that cinema should remain free of agendas and must not be misused, as he responded to the postponement of Kangana Ranaut's biographical political thriller, 'Emergency'. The 'Dunki' actor, along with co-stars Gippy Grewal and Jasmin Bhasin, was in the national capital promoting their Punjabi film 'Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di'.

'Emergency', which depicts former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the controversial 21-month Emergency period from 1975 to 1977, has faced backlash from several Sikh groups. The film's release has been delayed, allegedly pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The cast of 'Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di' was questioned about their thoughts on the controversy during a media interaction.

Gurpreet Ghuggi stressed the importance of unbiased storytelling in cinema. "If I were to bring any agenda into 'Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di', that would be wrong. Cinema should not be misused," he said. He also emphasized the necessity of presenting factual information, especially in historical contexts, to avoid objections from religious bodies or the audience.
