Actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, on Tuesday, underscored that films should not carry agendas and highlighted the risks of cinema misuse. His remarks were in response to the delayed release of Kangana Ranaut's biopic 'Emergency.'

The film, featuring Ranaut as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was scheduled for release on September 6, but is awaiting Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clearance. The political thriller, exploring the historic 1975-1977 Emergency period in India, faces backlash from several Sikh organizations.

During a media interaction in the capital, Ghuggi and the cast of 'Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di' addressed the controversy. Ghuggi stated, 'Movies should be made for entertainment without any agenda. Misuse of cinema is a mistake.' He called for factual accuracy, especially in films based on historical events.

Co-actor Gippy Grewal shared insights into their film's production, noting they sought approval from religious authorities to avoid misrepresentation. Highlighting the rigorous review process, Grewal said, 'We showed the entire film to religious authorities before the Censor Board to ensure it met their standards.'

Ranaut, addressing the delays, mentioned on social media, 'Reports of CBFC certification are false. The process stalled due to death threats and pressures to remove sensitive scenes.' The film, produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, is currently in limbo.

Meanwhile, 'Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di', continuing the legacy of the 'Ardaas' franchise, focuses on a family's faith journey and is set for release on September 13.
