West Bengal Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose on Monday night described the arrest of Sandip Ghosh, the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, as 'the beginning of the end.'

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Ghosh and three others in connection with alleged financial misconduct at the institution. 'This is the beginning of the end,' Bose told PTI without providing further details.

Notably, Ghosh's arrest came just days after Governor Bose met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. The meeting involved a petition from the parents of a deceased woman medic at RG Kar Hospital. According to an official at the Raj Bhavan, the parents had urged for a speedy investigation into their daughter's death, involving a rape and murder case. The body was found in the seminar room of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
