Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday launched a significant project worth Rs 1,347 crore aimed at supplying drinking water from the Sone river to the cities of Aurangabad, Dehri, and Sasaram.

The project, expected to be completed within two years, is a major step towards resolving the drinking water issues in these cities.

In addition to the water supply initiative, Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a state industrial training institute, tech labs, street lights projects, and the construction of Anganwadi centers in Dehri, located in Rohtas district. The Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, also presented a cheque worth Rs 74.17 crore for distribution among 1,864 self-help groups associated with the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project, also known as JEEVIKA.

Addressing the media, the Water Resources Minister emphasized the significance of the scheme in reducing dependency on groundwater. Last year, the Chief Minister had launched the ambitious Ganga water supply scheme for Gaya, Rajgir, and Nawada.
